Description: Job Duties: Job Duty 1 - IT System Administrative support for Linux Server installation and maintenance (hardware + software). Perform periodic backup of existing software infrastructure. Job Duty 2 - Keep systems up-to-date and security complaint while reducing the disruption to users. Job Duty 3 - Provide user support for any hardware or software related issues.
Requirements:  - Familiarity or ability to learn and configure Apache (LAMP), LDAP, Kerberos, and/or SSO authentication schemes for various software solutions (e.g NAS Synology Storage Unit, Mantis, Booked Scheduler.) - Knowledge and experience with Server hardware RAID systems, including recovery. - LoadLeveler setup and deployment (IBM's LSF knowledge is a plus). - Multiple Network card configuration on servers or NAS. - Linux firewall and other security options (e.g. encryption) on servers. - Having the initiative and ideas to help improve the reporting and TAT of IT related issues, reduce maintenance time via IT changes or automation. - Shell or Python scripting to help automate software maintenance tasks. - Knowledge and experience with VMware configuration and deployment on Servers (whether VMWare or other open source solutions). Other Skills Desired, Years in each skill, where applicable: Extensive experience as an IT System Admin, 5 years Ability to work with others to diagnose and order new or replacement parts. (e.g. network or server related parts, new connectivity). Self-sufficient in the ability to research impromptu issues, whether hardware or software related, to help diagnose the problem and come up with fixes. Well informed industry knowledge in order to make recommendations for new hardware or software acquisitions in the future (e.g. adequacy to our compute load needs, hardware and software which results in reduced maintenance and/or support).
