Description: The ideal candidate will develop new products, manufacturing processes, and lead PTI's R&D manufacturing programs. Assess the manufacturability of customer designs in relation to plastic, metal and ceramic injection molding processes. Utilize problem solving tools including Six Sigma, LEAN manufacturing and DOE to solve development challenges, eliminate process variability and resolve issues that impact part cost, quality and delivery. Develop engineering documents including work instructions, process sheets and drawing and maintains these within a controlled document (ECN) system. Support sales and customer service with quoting and cost analysis, manufacturing feasibility and technical support. Work closely with Quality Control and Quality Assurance on inspection of manufactured parts. The ideal candidate will have a passion for mechanical design and manufacturing while also adept at developing complete life cycle projects and technically managing internal and external resources. We seek a hands-on problem solver, team player and someone comfortable within an innovative, fast paced environment. Design: Design of parts using design for manufacturing concepts/ assembly, new product design, new fixture design, new manufacturing process design, new automation design. • Analysis: Familiar with analytical software such as FEA/ FMEA, Moldflow, and SPC. Develop manufacturing process optimization, parts requirement analysis, research new materials / technology / processes to meet part requirements. • Project Management: Technical management of outside vendors, contractors and consultants. Lead and coordinate multiple functional groups to solve and execute complex development and manufacturing projects.
Requirements: • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Manufacturing Engineer • Proven record of delivering component/ assembly level projects using a structured development process • Working knowledge of manufacturing, injection molding, tool/ mold design, automation • Equipment and fixture design for low and high-volume manufacturing • Familiar with machine shop operations: turning, milling, EDM, CNC machining operations • Must be familiar with statistical concepts such as FMEA, Gage R&R, Capability Studies, SPC and DOE • Working knowledge of engineering drawings including application and interpretation of GD&T • Fluent in CAD design using SolidWorks or ProE • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt a plus • MIM or advanced injection molding experience highly desirable • BS or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering L.
