Description: Conceptualize system level to circuit level requirements & features 20% Design, fabricate & operate analog, digital and power systems 20% Develop FPGA and microcontroller firmware 15% Understand and implement proper grounding, isolation and noise reduction and rejection schemes 10% Mentor students, technicians, and junior engineers performing work in research and development of experiments, control, data acquisition and monitoring systems. 10% Daily operation and maintenance of control and monitoring system 15% Develop diagrams, drawings and documentation for systems developed 10%
Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Computer or Software Engineering. 7+ years of relevant work experience. Excellent Communications Skills Ability to work with a diverse set of scientists, engineers and technical staff with varying skill levels and backgrounds. Experience with National Instrumental LabView Software environment Experience with electronic design environments (Autodesk Eagle preferred) Experience with noise reduction schemes in electronics design Experience working with Digital I/O Experience working with Analog Data acquisition and signal conditioning techniques. Experience generating and reading State Machine, Logic Flow and Interconnection Diagrams, Requirements Documents, Failure Mode Engineering Analysis Ideal Candidate would also have: Experience with FPGA development process Experience working with Front Panel Data Port (FPDP) Hardware Experience working for federal entities like the Department of Energy (DEO) Exposure to Version control Software (SVN, GIT) L.
