EMC Engineer

Description: A successful EMC Engineer is responsible for testing customer equipment, developing and delivering solutions to customers allowing their equipment to comply with global standards and other needs. A successful candidate will need to develop a working relationship with engineers within target markets such as: lighting, industrial, medical and alternative energy. This position reports to the Engineering Manager of Schaffner. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other functions may be assigned. *Design new filter solutions for new or existing applications *Build and provide functional samples *Perform on-site testing and support sales in technical questions/discussions. *Keep good relationship with external test laboratories *Give technical presentations to engineering groups *Assures product quality by designing electrical testing methods; testing finished products and system capabilities. *Provides knowledge and consultation for Schaffner EMC product line. *Prepares product reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends. *Review, analysis and report back on lighting industry trends and needs. *Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies. *Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Requirements:  *Requires a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Electrical Engineer *A minimum of 5 years’ experience *Experience with EMC Testing, EMI filter design, EMI/RFI Research *Experience with FCC, European EMC Directive and related standards *Experience with Global Safety compliance regulations (i.e UL/CSA, IEC/EN & EMC filter safety standards) *Excellent oral/written communication skills *Well-developed presentation skills *Ability to travel at least 25% of the time to US and Canadian customers to gather data and discuss product specifications *Experience with SAP software and its applications *Good PC skills specifically with Excel, PPT, Word, Outlook etc. *Able to work independently with strong self-initiative *Able to work on multiple projects simultaneously *Ability to function independently and deliver results L.
