Description: -Provide QA/QC support overseeing all aspects of Ultrasonic Rail Flaw Testing Operations, including administrative support.-Individual shall provide support services for auditing Rail Flaw Detection operations performed by Service Contractors. Under direction of the Director/Manager of Ultrasonic Rail Flaw Inspections, the individual shall perform random and scheduled contractor audits and personnel performance evaluation of track geometry cars (TGC) onboard and off board UT operations.-Prepare UT system operation and personnel performance reports for management on a weekly basis or as needed. Create UT mainline system run testing performance and comparison reports. Review data for quality and validity of all UT inspection runs and assure all suspect discontinuities are carefully evaluated by UT Service Contractors.-Assure all required test schedules are adhered to by contractors.-Be capable of performing UT inspections using portable hand testing UT equipment to verify suspect defects on all track locations (including elevated structure, subways, and bridges with various track configurations).-Must be mechanically inclined to oversee the maintenance of TGC UT equipment and the servicing of the roller search units (RSU), as well as calibration of the equipment. Must be capable of overseeing the troubleshooting of mechanical and electronic equipment on the TGC's UT system.-Review invoices for accuracy per current price schedules to be processed through Business Service Center for payments.
Requirements: Four-year college degree in field of mechanical / metallurgical engineering, or two-year college degree specialized in Non-Destructive Testing and two years of NDT experience, or High School Diploma and four years of verifiable and documented ultrasound testing professional experience (rail flaw inspection preferred). Prior two years professional NDT experience is required with ultrasonic testing using A-scan equipment (experience with B-scan data presentation is highly desired) for analysis and interpretations. Statistical data analysis and report preparation for presentations is preferred (includes plots, charts, graphs, etc.). The preference is for the candidate to have successfully completed (within two years of this job posting) formal classroom training in ultrasonic testing Level I and or Level II from a recognized NDT training center or institute. Individual must be proficient in using MS Office software (i.e., Word, Excel, Access, etc.). Must have data entry and report preparation skills. Valid Driver's license L. J.
