Fire Systems Developer

Description: Under directions of a Project Engineer/Administrator, the incumbent may serve as a design team leader on a project and perform work on the following activities:*Conduct trips to a field for survey and/or monitoring of projects. *Provide computer assisted drafting & design services. *Prepare contract documents such as design drawings, specifications, calculations, addendums, meeting minutes, and presentations. *Review, comment and disposition contract documents such as design drawings, specifications, calculations, RFIs, RFPs, shop drawings, cut sheets, procedures, O&M manuals, and as-built drawings. *Coordinate with multiple design disciplines (such as mechanical, I&C, system safety), design consultants, various operating departments, and outside agencies. *Participate in inspections and witness tests to ensure that contract requirements are met. *Ensure and enforce adherence to Quality Assurance and Safety protocols. *Provide support for a variety of administrative or project related procedures.
Requirements: 
  • A Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer science or related communications engineering field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in the performance of analytical , planning, operational, technical, and/or administrative duties in a data communications or closely-related electronics service environment (embedded systems, data telecommunications, networking).
  • Has previously created design documents for fire detection and alarm systems.
  • Has previously reviewed consultant design, construction and commissioning of fire detection and alarm system.
  • Fire alarm experience, preferably transit related projects; knowledge of BIM and Microstation preferred but not required.
  • Microstation, BIM, MS Office, and Visio.
  • Ability to read and interpret contract drawings and specifications.
  • OSHA-30 certification required.
  • NICET Level 1 certification or higher desired.
