Description: Sr. Level Civil/Structural Engineer Structural analysis and design for buildings, bridges, dams, hydraulic gates and transmission facilities. General civil engineering for site layout, storm water management, sanitary sewers and roadways. Structural rehabilitation and building envelope restoration. Design of powerhouse, switchyard and substation civil works. Design, rehabilitation, and maintenance of aging transmission infrastructure. Review of transmission right-of-way access & clearance. Shoreline stabilization. Design of pipe supports and equipment foundations.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Master’s degree preferred. Professional Engineer License in New York State. Minimum 10 years of design experience in the field of civil/structural engineering, preferably in utility industry Familiarity and competency with the New York State Building Code, ASCE, AISC, ACI, IBC, NESC, IEEE and their reference standards. Ability to model and run structural engineering design software such as STAAD, Mathcad. PLS-CADD. General knowledge of AutoCAD. Demonstrated experience of performing and verifying engineering calculations of structures and structural elements for seismic, wind, ice and other loads. Experience of translating the design results into civil/structural details, drawings and specifications. Exceptional communication skills.Preferred experience in the utility industry. L.J.
